Back in 2013 I took the plunge and bought a Nikon D3200. This was my first digital dSLR, in the hope of taking my photography from happy snaps to something I was happy with, also with a hope that one day others would like my images too. It was not an easy road, there was much trial and error, head scratching, a few disasters, and at times sheer frustration! Eventually with the help of excellent YouTube teachers and photographers like Mike Browne (to name but one) things started to come together and camera controls became second nature giving me more time to think about light, creativity and composition. Some time later I took the plunge again and purchased a monthly subscription to the Adobe Photography Package consisting of Lightroom and Photoshop. The camera was set from shooting JPG to shooting RAW. Learning curve aside, I almost instantly fell in love with Lightroom and found I enjoyed post-processing my images as much as being out in the fresh air capturing them.
Which of my photographs is my favourite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.
Today, I don’t claim to be the best photographer, I know my images can be over saturated, under and over exposed, heck; I could go on for ever, but that is what I do and what I like. I love taking an image to a place that you would not expect it to be and creating a different kind of look. You will either love or hate my work and that’s honestly fine, as long as I am happy and really enjoying what I’m doing. At the end of the day in photography, that’s what really counts. With the exception of paid work of course, that’s something different altogether.
Enough of my ramblings for now ..
I live in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England. I have a real passion for land and seascapes but I live and breath all types of photography.
A few times a year I organise days out photographing around the beautiful Yorkshire hills and coast. I love to pass on what I have learned to those new to photography. Keep an eye on the blog for dates and times. It would be great if you could join me/us ..
Thank you for dropping by! Any questions, just ask ..
